Colorful Lighting Idea's...

Here we have an example of lighting handled for a Wedding Reception. Used were several fixtures to create this wash around the room. Fixtures were used to "uplight" the walls and curtain sheers.

From these 2 separate rooms we create a dichotomy of color. Warmth of Magenta used to accent the dinner with a medium blue to keep the dance room as an after thought .. until it lights up washing the crowd in a rainbow of colors. Notice the Gobo fixture used for the Bride and Grooms first name.

The walls actually are grey which works great. Grey is a neutral color. A white wall will give you the most intensity of color when illuminated.. The cake is also washed in light, white being the color of choice. This client also wanted a gobo fixture for their event.

For this event we used fixtures to wash this sheer curtain in a light blue. The lights are actually "behind" the curtain. Notice the small white lights used as accents and shining on the front of the curtain. Very tasteful and minimal.

In this beautiful picture the lights are on the other side of the room shooting across to the opposite wall giving us a nice, wide color. The decorator for this event hung some sheers from the center of the room to outside walls for effect, making it more intimate. Notice the Gobo with name on the center of dance area.

For those who stayed at the hotel that night of the wedding reception was a brunch the next day. Rather than dark, deep colors, we choose to keep it lighter in look for the morning sunshine. The use of "uplighting" for the walls and colorful tabletops to match made this cheerful to walk into.

These are some idea's we hope have helped you for understanding how lighting can work to create an atmosphere and mood.
